About the Role

We are seeking a skilled or trainee Workshop & Field Service Engineer to join our team in Bedford. In this role, you will predominantly be workshop-based, focusing on the service, repair, and refurbishment of wheelchairs in accordance with prescription builds.

You will also undertake field-based work as required to support our clients directly on-site. Full training on all equipment and technical builds will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance: Diagnose, service, and repair manual and powered wheelchairs.
  • Prescription Builds: Assemble and refurbish equipment to meet unique user specifications and medical prescriptions.
  • Field Support: Travel to field locations to provide on-site technical assistance and repairs.
  • On-Call Cover: Participate in the emergency on-call rota.

On-Call Requirements

  • Frequency: 1 week in every 4.
  • Hours: 08:00 to 23:00 during your rota week.
  • Compensation: Generous standby allowance plus enhanced hourly rates for any live call-outs.

What We Are Looking For

  • Driving Licence: A full, clean UK driving licence is mandatory due to the on-call and field work.
  • Technical Aptitude: Experience in mechanical or electrical engineering is a plus, though a strong willingness to learn is highly valued.
  • Attributes: Reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
