48 hour week/ working days 5 over 7



Our clients are a prestigious hotel venue in Ware and have an exciting new opportunity for a Sous Chef to join their catering team.

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Senior Sous Chef is responsible for the day-to-day management, preparation and service of all food within the hotel and for ensuring the highest standards of quality and delivery are maintained at all times and strict food hygiene controls are kept in all areas of the kitchen. You will ensure that all team members are fully trained to consistently achieve the luxury standards expected within our properties.

Main responsibilities as Sous Chef

  • To oversee and assist the team in the smooth, safe and efficient running of the kitchen operation.
  • To create and  assist in the production of suitable innovative menu designs for the relevant event or area of food service within the hotel
  • To ensure the quality of food and standards of presentation are of the exceptional levels expected when dining at the hotel
  • To continually strive towards achievement and improvement within the department
  • To assist on other sections or help with other duties when required (other parts of the kitchen)
  • Maintain sensitivity to local cultural traditions and adhere to religious beliefs in the preparation and service of all food premises
  • To run the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef

Skills & Experience Required as Sous Chef

  • A true passion for food!
  • Strong kitchen background from within hotel or restaurant sector, preferably at a 5* standard  
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Commercially astute and financially aware
  • Highly organised
  • Proven record as a strong team leader
  • Have an eye for detail.
  • Keen and enthusiastic attitude coupled with drive, energy and stamina.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a hot environment.
  • Ambition to succeed, willingness to work hard and strong desire to learn.
  • Assist the team to maintain quality, standards and cleanliness. 
  • Flexibility to work hours required by the business.
