Role Overview

We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Import and Export Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of our international logistics and trade operations. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods across borders, while optimising processes and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, freight partners, and regulatory authorities.

Key Responsibilities

•    Manage all import and export operations, including documentation, compliance, freight forwarding, customs clearance, and scheduling.

•    Ensure compliance with UK, EU, US, and international trade regulations, including post-Brexit requirements and customs documentation.

•    Liaise with suppliers, carriers, freight forwarders, and customs agents to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective logistics.

•    Oversee and optimise the international supply chain, identifying areas for process improvement and cost reduction.

•    Prepare and manage all shipping and customs documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and export declarations.

•    Monitor import/export performance metrics and report on KPIs to senior management.

•    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global trade changes, tariffs, duties, and regulatory requirements.

•    Support the sales and warehouse teams with logistical coordination for inbound and outbound shipments.

Requirements

•    Experience (3+ years) in import/export, international logistics, or supply chain management

•    Familiarity with freight terms (Incoterms), tariff codes, and logistics documentation.

•    Excellent communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.

•    Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.

•    Familiar with logistics and ERP systems.

•    Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

•    Strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to work independently.

Desirable

•    Relevant qualifications in international trade, logistics, supply chain, or business management.

•    Experience working within a tools, hardware, or industrial products environment.

•    Knowledge of freight management software or customs clearance platforms.
