Second Chef - £27,000

Our client based in Bishops Stortford are looking for a Second Chef. The role of Commis Chef reports directly to the Head Chef and will be a permanent position. This is an opportunity to join a small and very talented team and become part of a very successful business and contribute to the ongoing future development.

The venue is open 7 days per week and the working week will consist of @40 hours and days of work will will be  based on the agreed rota. 

Required skills:

Assisting in the food preparation process

Cooking and preparing elements of high quality dishes

Preparing fresh vegetables , meats and fish

Assisting the Head Chef

Assisting with deliveries and restocking

Assisting with stock rotation 

Contributing to maintaining kitchen food safety standards and cleanliness.

Qualifications  required (ideal but not essential):

Level 1 & 2 Food Safety Awards

Minimum of 6 months relevant experience

Awareness of manual handling techniques

Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety

Experience of kitchen equipment

Experience of dangerous equipment such as knives

Competent level of English spoked and written

Other skills:

Ability to work under supervision of a limited range

Ability to produce good quality food

Understanding of Health and safety

Understanding of basic food hygiene practices

Good oral communication

Team management skills

High level of attention to detail

Adaptability to change and a willingness to embrace new ideas and processes

Ability to work unsupervised and delivery quality work

Positive and approachable manner

Team player qualities

A working uniform will be provided

Salary for the position will be dependant of the quality and experience of the successful candidate but will have an expected maximum salary of £27000 plus tips and an opportunity to join the company pension scheme
