Estimator - £25,000-£35,000

Estimator

£25,000-£35,000pa

Our clients are a long-established, small, family-run company that design, manufacture, install and maintain laboratory fume cupboards and associated extract systems for universities, schools, research and pharmaceutical companies, across the UK.

They are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and technically-minded Estimator to join the estimating and sales department.

We will consider both junior/trainee level applicants, as well as those with more experience.

The Estimator should have the following essential skills:

· Good English and maths skills (GCSE Grade B / 6 or higher)

· Microsoft Word and Excel experience / basic typing skills

· Prepared to be flexible in their role and working hours

· Good telephone manner and face-to-face social skills

· A clean driving licence and DBS record

· Be reasonably able-bodied

· Be able to work to a deadline

Non-Essential but advantageous Skills

· Experience within the HVAC, LEV or building industry

· CSCS / skills card holder

· CAD/CAM experience

The Estimator role will initially involve working alongside current team members, both in the office and on customer premises, to gain an understanding of our products, clients and processes, and will be a mixture of:

· Site Work - Assisting our installation teams, seeing first hand our products and processes and gaining an understanding of the typical issues faced by our fitters. These days will often involve long hours and early starts. Some of the sites are of a highly secure or sensitive nature so a clean DBS record is essential. A good head for heights is important as often there is a need to work on high-level flat roofs, climb ladders etc. Occasional overnight stays in hotels/B&Bs may be necessary (all expenses covered).

Once a sufficient understanding of the above has been achieved, we would not expect the successful candidate to regularly be involved with site work. However, being a small company, there are rare occasions when we need “all-hands on deck”.

· Site Visits – Meeting clients across a wide range of industries, building face-to-face relationships, discussing their requirements, surveying the site and finding the best solutions to meet their needs and budget.

· Office Work – Preparation, typing and sending of quotes and tenders, often to a deadline. Longer term, this will become the primary role, although frequent site visits will remain an important part of the job. Quote preparation involves reading and understanding technical drawings and design specifications drawn up by the client or consultant. Office work also involves helping customers with technical queries over the phone or via email.

All training will be given in-house / on the job as required.

Hours
 Monday – Thursday: 8am – 5pm

Friday: 8am – 4pm

Site hours will differ depending on location and work being undertaken.

Salary
25k – 35k depending on experience, plus auto-enrolment company pension contributions.
 Profit-linked 6-monthly bonus (after 1st years service)

Holiday
20 days (progressively rising after six years service)

Use of a pool vehicle will be made available for site visits / site work.
